Kit & Tech Set Up

Here’s the set up recommended by our trainers for getting started Prototyping in Code.

On your laptop please make sure you have installed:

• The latest version of a web browser. We recommend Firefox 5 with the Firebug add-on, but Google Chrome, Safari 5.1, Opera 11.5 or IE9 (in order of preference) are all permitted.
• A text editor which supports syntax highlighting, such as Notepad++ (Windows, ) or Textwrangler (Mac). Our trainers mostly use Coda (Mac) – you can download a free trial version but it costs to use longer term.
• A web development tool that we’ll use for automating form and table code. Blue Griffon is a free tool, or there’s Dreamweaver – again, available as a free trial but costs longer term.

You’ll also need pen/pencil or two, some coloured pencils, some gridded paper  and your notebook.
